Developing People – Enhancing Performance
One of our core beliefs at Bluelight Consultancy is that qualified and competent officers perform better, are more confident in their role and require less supervision.
We find it astounding that the majority of police officers in the UK possess no formal qualifications – an essential part of any professional’s career management and an indicator of expertise in their role. Teachers, doctors, nurses and fire fighters are all expected to hold recognised qualifications before they can practice independently, so why should police officers be any different? Bluelight Consultancy was formed to fill this gap – to provide police officers with opportunities to gain recognised qualifications and improve their effectiveness.
Our team is made up of serving and ex police officers who are considered experts in their specialist roles including Neighbourhood Policing, Public Order / Firearms Command and Performance Development. Associates from the wider Community Safety Partnership, including experts in Licensing, Media Management, Community Engagement and Neighbourhood Management, have also joined us.
What makes our team unique is that most of us are qualified to teach in the lifelong learning sector as well as holding NVQ assessor and internal verifier qualifications, which means we are capable of delivering a high standard of teaching and assessment. Academically we have a range of qualifications including Post Graduate Diplomas and Masters Degrees in Education, the Management of Public Order Policing, Police Leadership, Accountancy and Law.
Our associates are recognised as experts in their fields. Within the specialism of Neighbourhood Policing they have had involvement in several Home Office and Communities and Local Government projects and have contributed to national policy. Our Public Safety associates played a part in the formulation of the National Public Order Curriculum and have represented the UK police service internationally.
Our team is comprised of exceptional people, but don’t just take our word for it; our associates have hosted visits from the former Prime Minister, Home Secretary and Policing Minister who all described their achievements as, ‘inspirational.’
